Today, if you could speak to tomorrow, what would you say? Today, if you could do yesterday over, what would you do? You can’t do either, that’s why your present is only for today!
PRESENT
“Now existing, or being at this time; not past or future; the period of time now occurring; the period of time happening now.”
Gift = “A thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present.”
Each day has 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, which is a lot of time. But how many of us have said at the end of the day, I wish I had enjoyed myself more today. Or I’ll relax and rest tomorrow. That’s okay, occasionally.
But it’s when those occurrences become habitual and start to negatively affect our health and the passage of the ever-moving time. We have all been given the same amount of hours and minutes in a day, so we must remember to use each day as a gift.
“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.“
Jackson Brown, Jr.
PERSPECTIVE
Unlike the presents we receive for Christmas, a Birthday, an anniversary or any celebrated occasion, we usually wait until that day to open it, to enjoy it. We are excited and can’t wait to see what it is! We thank the giver and tell them how much we appreciate them and their present.
But the present, the gift of today, should also be treasured and celebrated! And we should always Thank The Giver of life for each day.
I have two beautiful dear friends who have endured life-altering situations and are now going through a life-changing healing process; one recently said to me, when asked how they were, “I’m good. I was sitting on my deck earlier today, looking up at the sky and saying how beautiful it was.” Another day, the other friend said, “I’m doing good today.”
Regardless of their present circumstances, whatever day I speak to them, their comments are always the same; “I’m doing good today!” What encouragement!
TODAY’S BLESSINGS
I’m reminded of the Israelites as they were wandering in the desert for 40 years. They were complaining, among other things, that they would starve. God told Moses to tell them that He would send down food for them, and they were to gather as much as they needed only for that day. (Ex.16:4-26)
SOME THINGS ARE MEANT ONLY FOR TODAY
They were not to keep any of it overnight—into tomorrow. But some didn’t trust God and tried to save some for the next day. But when they awakened the following day, what they had kept had rotted.
“Be grateful for today and what you have. God will keep you so happy that you won’t have time to worry about each day.” (Eccl. 5:20)
“So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.” (Matt 6:34)
“This is the day the Lord has made. Let’s rejoice and be glad today!” (Ps. 118:24)
May you enjoy the gift of today, and thank you for taking this journey with me. May God bless you abundantly!
Sincerely,
Jacqui
