A gift unlike any other. What is the most special, valuable, meaningful, or surprising gift you’ve ever received? What does that gift mean to you? What makes it meaningful? Do you still have it? How do you usually respond when you receive a gift?
It’s understood that not every gift we receive always meets our expectations. But we should accept it with gratitude and kindness. But what is the perfect gift?
The Bible tells us that every “Good and Perfect Gift” comes from God, so the only “perfect” gift is from Him.
“Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from Him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.” (James 1:17)
The terms “Good” and “Perfect” differ in meaning.
With “good” meaning morally excellent and beneficial.
“Perfect” indicates flawlessness, completeness, and wholeness.
Recognizing Certain Christmas Holiday Emotions
The Christmas season isn’t always a joyful, happy, or celebratory time for everyone. It might be due to recent or ongoing hardships, illness, or unexpected results we are not pleased with. Sometimes the Christmas season or day can trigger nostalgic, painful, or regretful memories. Some of us need rest from overexertion.
How to Overcome Discouraging Christmas and Holiday Emotions
However, no matter what is causing feelings of loneliness, sadness, pain, dread, fatigue, or a family disconnection, there is Someone with you. God is not going anywhere, and through The Christ Child born long ago, now The Risen Savior, will see you through this. You can rest in His Arms. Hope is always within reach because of The Perfect Gift. All you need to do is accept it.
THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT… ISN’T IN A BOX or BAG
“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isa. 9:6)
THERE IS ONLY ONE GOOD GIFT THAT CAN BE CALLED PERFECT, AND HIS NAME IS JESUS!
