As I got up early on Monday morning and started getting ready for the day, I found myself already thinking about the upcoming Sunday. Suddenly, I heard these exact words said on Sunday: “Slow down.” Have you ever experienced this, where you find yourself thinking far ahead of the present moment?
For example, as I rushed to prepare for the upcoming week, I suddenly realized that I had jumped ahead by an entire week. It seemed that Tuesday through Saturday had vanished, and I had already landed on Sunday!
Initially, I added an exclamation point to the title to make it sound like a command. However, I realized that the title should not only serve as a strong reminder but also provide a sense of calm reassurance.
My message is “STOP, SLOW DOWN, RELAX,” and enjoy the moments of the day and time you’re in.
While considering the instruction to “slow down,” I reflected on the stories of two women in the Bible, Mary, and Martha, as told in Luke 10:38-42. The Amplified Classic Bible Translation (AMPC) describes Martha as overly occupied and busy. I found it interesting how Jesus addresses her twice, saying, “Martha, Martha…” I believe this is also a message for me as if God is gently saying, “Jacqui, Jacqui,” stop, slow down, relax, and stay on Monday.
“If you’re always racing to the next moment, what happens to the one you’re in? Slow down and enjoy the moment you’re in and live your life to the fullest.” Nanette Mathews
“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” (Matt. 6:34)
“Take one day at a time. Today, after all, is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.” – Billy Graham
It’s Thursday, and I intend to focus on the present moment. I’ll be patiently waiting for Sunday. Regardless of which day it is for you, remember that it’s a unique day you’ll never experience again. So take a moment to slow down and appreciate the little things in life, like smelling the roses. Perhaps God is saying to you, “Pssst, slow down.”
Thank you for joining me on this journey. May you be blessed with abundance and safety.
Sincerely,
Jacqui
