Are you serious, you might ask! Rest! I’m too busy to rest! There are too many things I want to accomplish this year! So, how can I rest? Let me tell you how.
I am not necessarily talking about resting from physical labor or everyday activity. I’m talking about a kind of rest where you can continuously move at the speed of light and still be at rest.
QUESTION? Have you ever had times when you are busy doing something and angry at the same time (I have)? You’re snatching things up, throwing others into place, and fuming and complaining about whatever. Finally, you sit down after everything is in order, wanting to rest. But you can’t because your mind is unsettled and still moving.
HOW TO REST IN MOTION
My answer is not something new, but there are three words – keys, which I’ve learned and not always in this order that can help guarantee rest while moving in 2022:
Being Still
Being Quiet and,
Being Patient
I imagine the first thing I thought of is, yes, that’s easy, especially with the first two. But I’m talking about a rest that takes place in your mind.
1st key – Being STILL on the inside.
This first key begins in your mind by relaxing and calming your thinking. You activate this key by first meditating on positive thoughts BEFORE you start your day and task.
“Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Phil.4:8
2nd Key – Being QUIET on the inside
The second key also begins in your mind. Often, you can be still and not have a quiet inside in the physical. Being quiet requires listening and speaking. Above, we talked about what to think about; now you must say those things.
“Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.” Prov.16:24
3rd Key – Being PATIENT
This key might be the most challenging because it requires discipline, practice, and humility.
“I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then, at last, he bent down and listened to my cry.” Ps.40:1
PERSPECTIVE
“Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matt.11:28
Webster’s dictionary defines REST as “peace of mind or spirit, free of anxieties.”
Notice the definition of rest is peace of mind or spirit, and that’s because when we are agitated or disturbed, it begins on the inside and then shows on the outside. The body follows our thinking.
So, in this New Year of 2022, let’s make this year where we keep being productive, learning how to surrender all our anxieties to God, and keep moving forward as we press in to be Still, Quiet, and Patient!
“Surrender your anxiety. Be still and realize that I am God. I am God above all the nations, and I am exalted throughout the whole earth.” Ps. 46:10
HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone! Thank you for journeying with me this far. I wish you well this year, and God bless.
Sincerely,
Jacqui

Rest for 2022! These are the 3 keys I’m learning to apply.
I too thought because I was sitting, not moving, I was still. I noticed that my thoughts seemed to ramp up, but when gave over my anxieties to God, it was a quietness that felt new and refreshing.
Reading this blog reminded me of that quietness and how to not only obtain it but maintain it!
Thank You
