Sometimes, seasons in our life journey can seem like a long walk through a dark tunnel that will never end. But no matter how long, how disturbing, and dark, there is always an end. However, how you foresee and reach that end depends on three possible factors: what you know, what you believe, and who you know. Let’s first look at the two words, know and believe.
To know of something is to have knowledge or information of, to be acquainted or familiar with, and to have experience of.
To believe in something is to accept it as true, to accept its word or evidence of.
We have all heard the phrase, “It’s not what you know; it’s who you know.” It’s been said that opportunities and successes in life are more often the result of one’s connections with other people than of one’s talents or education.
I agree that our connections or relationships with others are important. However, the most critical key is the character of the person who bridges the connections. How well do you know them? What are they like 24/7? And more importantly, how well do they know you?
Question: Who is that person you know? Are they reliable, trustworthy, caring, and loyal? You may say yes to these qualities; however, can you confidently say they truly understand you and your circumstance or situation?
THE WHO — JESUS
Well, here is some good news: There is One who is always with us, faithful in any situation, and knows our past, present, and future! There is nowhere we can be, and He’s not there!
No matter how dark it gets or the battering of debris (disappointments, feelings of hopelessness, sudden changes, depression, or tiredness) that gets entangled around our feet as we walk, He always provides sufficient light, unswerving love and faithfulness, and absolute wisdom to guide us through.
WE NEVER HAVE TO WALK ALONE THROUGH ANYTHING
“…the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh 1:9)
HOW TO SEE THE LIGHT:
(Pray)
“When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you.” (Jer. 29:12)
(Meditate)
“But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.” (Ps. 1:2)
(Trust)
“Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge.” (Prov.3:5)
Remember that God sees, understands, and walks with us when we ask Him. He has provided everything we need during these tunnel seasons. It may seem like you’re in the darkest part of life now but don’t lose hope. We must not allow a dark season to determine our outcome or dim or consume our light of hope. Keep trusting God—there is a bountiful light at the end.
Below are a few guideposts that encourage me as I travel through and keep me moving forward, one victory step at a time. I hope you will let them guide you also.
FEELING TIRED
“Come to me all of you who are tired. You are like people who have worked for a long time. You are like people who have carried heavy things. Come to me. If you do that, you will find a place to rest.” (Matt. 11:28)
FEELING FEARFUL
“Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Don’t tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong, as I protect you with my arm and give you victories.” (Isa. 41:10)
NEED A LIGHT ALONG THE WAY
“Your word is a lamp before my feet and a light for my journey.” (Ps. 119:105)
NEEDING GUIDANCE
“I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.” (Ps. 32:8)
NEED SOMEONE TO LISTEN
“The Lord is close to everyone who calls out to him, to all who call out to him sincerely.” (Ps. 145:18)
NEED SOME HOPE
“I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Rom. 15:13)
Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you. May God bless you and keep you safe.
Sincerely,
Jacqui
