When your eyes are closed, darkness is everywhere. But when your eyes are open, nothing can compare with the brilliance of The Light anywhere!
Would you like to know the secret of seeing clearly? What do you think the secret is?
I’m sure most of you have had eye exams. My eyes are always dilated during my appointments. But before the dilation process is the exam to test my vision. You know the part when they ask you which is better, A or B? If you say A, you’re asked A, C, etc.
As the technician flips the lens back and forth, which now seems faster, each set of letters starts to look the same. I’m beginning to guess and hope I’m right! It’s a miracle I see as well as I do with my glasses!
Now begins the dilation procedure using special eye drops. The drops cause your pupils to widen to stay open so the Doctor can see the inside of the eye clearly. Although your eyes are widened, it’s still difficult to see everything in your eye. A light is needed.
The light is needed because it provides a clearer pathway in the eye for the Doctor to use to help find any abnormalities. Once your pupils widen, they become very light-sensitive, and your vision becomes blurry.
Light sensitivity and blurriness are both necessary in an eye exam. But in our daily life, there should only be one. Light sensitivity! What do I mean by that?
Perspective
“As people understand your word, it brings light to their lives. Your word makes even simple people wise.” (Ps. 119:130 ERV)
I have a note that was part of a letter sent to me at the beginning of this year taped to my laptop. It says, “God is going to give you a New Vision for the New Year.” It’s a good reminder because I notice my vision will change according to whatever I might be listening to or looking at in the last eight months or so.
Sometimes, with those changes, it gets blurred, not because of eye drops but because I’ve allowed my focus to shift to an unhealthy view.
I’m talking about my inside vision, my thoughts, which get clouded by doubt, fear, or people’s opinions. A blurry vision, inside or out, will always give you a distorted conclusion.
“Focus your eyes straight ahead; keep your gaze on what is in front of you.” (Pro.4:25 CEB)
As you see, the title of this post is “Focus, Light, Clarity.” Just as an eye exam aims to help locate and identify any problem and help you see clearly, so it is with the light of God’s word. The Doctor uses his light to see every part of your eye before making a quality decision. Jesus is the Doctor of my thoughts, heart, and natural eyes.
God doesn’t want you walking through life in a blur or as if you’re wearing a blindfold, guessing at your next step. He desires that you function well on the pathway of your life.
What is the secret of seeing clearly?
There is no secret: if Jesus is your Focus, He’ll be your Light, and you’ll have clarity! My prayer for you:
“I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do…” (Eph.1:18 MSG)
Thank you for walking this journey with me today. I appreciate you. God bless you, Jacqui!
