Do you think closed or open doors are in our control? Have you ever had a door slammed in your face? What about having someone open a door for you unexpectedly?
Closed and open doors can have many meanings. Most of us have heard the expression, “When one door closes, another opens, or Doors of opportunity.” What about revolving doors? Could they have meaning?
DOORS AS A METAPHOR
Of course, we know physical doors can keep people or things in or out, but so can intangible doors. These doors aren’t seen with the natural eye, nor can we touch them, but they are there and can create favorable and unfavorable results. They can also stop or dissuade us from moving forward mentally, physically, and spiritually.
DOORS OF OUR MIND
Just as physical doors come in many sizes, appearances, and materials, and we can choose the kind we want, it’s the same with doors of our mind. Our thoughts or how we perceive certain things come through these doors by what we see and hear.
An open mind doesn’t mean you should allow everything to enter. However, some thoughts shouldn’t find their way in, which may cause us to see or perceive a door as too big, too terrible, or impossible to close.
Occasionally, we close and reopen some mind doors by re-thinking or “OVERthinking.” Yet, when I look back at certain seasons in my life, some doors seem to close and open easier and quicker than others. I believe it was because I was willing to allow them to be closed without hesitancy, which allowed other doors to open quickly.
“For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything, he asks for, from the Lord,
“For being, as he is a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), he is unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything he thinks, feels, decides.” Jas. 1:7-8
Revolving Doors
Revolving doors can be risky! Because stepping in and out of them is very easy. I mention these doors because they can be as damaging as trying to force open a door that you know should stay closed or never been opened! But, with these doors, you can go around and around, always ending up at the same destination. As a child, it can be fun because you are probably not looking, have to be, or go anywhere in particular.
If you’re planning on moving forward —Stay in motion.
I’ve had to stop allowing my mind to re-visit closed areas intentionally. Besides, going around and around and back and forth, at some point, will only make you dizzy, and dizzy people tend to have to stand still for a while before moving on. So, unless you stop and exit these circular-moving doors of your mind, they will continue to do their purpose, but you will stagnate when you are supposed to be en route to your Open door.
GOING BACK SHOULD NOT BE AN OPTION
Whether a door has closed or is slowly closing, big or small, realize it and let it close. The best Open Door is the door God has opened for you.
PERSPECTIVE
There will be times with some closed doors or seasons) you will look back at it and think, I’ll never have those happy times again or love or be loved again or have certain things again. But everything is temporary, and you must think forward.

Prepare for Your Open Door
Just as you would prepare in the natural for a hiking trip, with something to keep you hydrated, food, flashlight, etc., be prepared spiritually for your Open door by continually exercising your faith every day.
It’s easy to see the Big Trees in front of you.
Sometimes, getting to the door that’s opened for you will be a hike. Just as on a hiking trail, you will have twigs, rocks, and all kinds of small things at your feet that can trip you up or slow you down. What do you do? You clear the way.
Likewise, you probably will have to push aside some head drama and step over some obstacles in your way on your way to your Open door. The food and tools needed for this hike are the Word of God, Trust in His Word, and a listening and obedient heart. God will “Do it again for you!”
“Your word is a lamp for my steps; it lights the path before me.” Ps. 119:105
There are always Open Doors, even if you don’t see them yet. You have to be persistent, you have to be patient, you have to keep looking, and you have to keep believing. You will find your Open Door because the pathway to God’s Open Doors is never dark. There’s always light with each step to help you get to it.
“So I tell you, ask, and God will give to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you.” Luke 11:9
If this has been an encouragement to you or if you have questions, send me an email. I will try to respond promptly. May God bless you immensely, and in Him is our trust! Thank you for being on this journey with me; I sincerely appreciate you.
Sincerely,
Jacqui
