As I consider what I should write about Christmas, I think about what it means to me, especially this year.
It’s been a challenging year for everyone in some way or another. For me today, I feel as though I’m winding down, and not necessarily in the most pleasant way.
BUT THEN — I redirect my focus! I think about a few positive things that have happened around me, such as:
- A spacious and well-stocked new grocery market opened near me!
- A dear friend bought a long-awaited beautiful new home!
- Another friend secured a great job after a long wait!
- My lovely daughter, Ms. Leea, met and made some great new friends through eGroups at her new church in her new home location!
- My nails are finally okay!
It doesn’t matter how large or small; there’s always “something” worth cheering about! Gratitude = Mindset change = feelings change!
CHRISTMAS IS A CELEBRATION!!!
A Gift
“Something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation; something given.”
When I first read the scripture in Acts 20:35, “…It is more blessed to give than to receive.” I thought, “How is that?” Because, at the time, I was struggling to provide for my kids and me! I didn’t realize that a gift, especially at Christmas, does not have to come wrapped in a box or bag.
I greatly respect what a wise person said to me years ago, “Giving and receiving is like a revolving door.” It’s a reflective statement, and I’ve tried to live by it. There will always be something to give and someone to receive.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Thanksgiving precedes Christmas. I believe it sets in motion the atmosphere for the Christmas season.
PERSPECTIVE
So, what does Christmas mean to me this year?
It means staying focused more than ever on the true purpose of Christmas.
Many of us have been waiting and hoping in these last few months for just this season because we get to set up the Christmas trees and bring out all the brightly colored decorations, turn on the flickering lights, and, of course, don’t forget the presents!
But there is one present, the greatest Gift, and The most generous Gift giver who glows brighter than a billion Christmas lights and more beautiful than the most elaborate decorations!
This Gift has already been given, and all you have to do is receive it. This Gift will never tarnish or go dim, grow old or outdated, and never lose value or authenticity!
This most exquisite Gift ever given is Jesus! He’s what Christmas is and what it means to me! If you haven’t already, I hope you receive this precious Gift today.
“For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.” John 3:16 (TPT)
I sincerely wish you and your loved ones a joyful, happy, and pleasurable memory-building holiday season and Christmas! I look forward to sharing with you again in the New Year!
Love Never Fails…
