What is the meaning of life? What does living your best life mean, and what is the best life? The questions are not complicated, but they will have different meanings for many people.
A few weeks ago, I moved into a new, beautiful home, and the other day, I was quietly sitting and thinking about the many turned pages of the last chapter in my life; I thought, “What do I do with my life now? The vigorous activities that occupied my life for several months have stopped, so what does this new chapter have for me now? What is my new chapter?”
Here Are Some Thoughts On These Questions:
OUR LIVES CHANGE WITH SEASONS — OUR PURPOSE DOES NOT
With each season or chapter of our life, regardless of the many changes that come with them, there is always our unique given purpose that never changes.
I’m sure you have heard the term, “Life is like a book.” I agree. Let’s take a look at a “How to” book. It has a title, a table of contents, chapters, and some individual pages. NOTE: Pages are blank until you fill them.
EACH PART OF A BOOK IS A KEY TO LIFE
The title gives you the book’s purpose, the table of contents gives you the roadmap for the book, the chapters divide the book’s sections, and each page separates the sections. Here’s how I’ve defined areas in a book as they pertain to life:
1. Purpose: Why and what your life is for
2. Table of Contents: List of experiences in your life
3. Chapters: It helps you journey through the experiences
4. Pages: Each page should help fulfill your purpose
WHAT DOES LIFE MEAN TO ME? TO TAKE A PAGE A DAY AND WRITE IN IT!
“And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.” Hab.2:2
PERSPECTIVE
When I view life from a book perspective, it helps me locate myself and see my progress. While writing this post, I started smiling because I had the next chapter’s title! Even with the detours, sometimes derailments, and new beginnings, the purpose of my life-book hasn’t changed. As long as I remember “the title, i.e., purpose,” I will fulfill it as I journey through.
As I challenge myself with new things to improve and accomplish my purpose, I will not allow fear, discouragement, or detours to stop its fulfillment. I’m going to have a strong ending to my story!
If you haven’t started writing your life book, it could be because you don’t have or are unsure of the title’s purpose. If this is the case, pray this prayer with me:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I know You have empowered and uniquely crafted me with what I need to fulfill my purpose, so I ask You to give me insight so I will clearly know what it is.” Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus Name. Amen!
“For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will and purpose but to do the will and purpose of Him Who sent Me.” (John 6:38)

Wow! This was SO insightful! I can definitely get caught up in the pages of life and sometimes forget what the purpose is. Staying focused and keeping my eyes and thoughts on Jesus (praise & worship, fellowship, reading) brings me back and helps remind me of my purpose.
